Home and social

Description:
Check out the video clip titled “Home and social,” taken from the series of “Player Development Interviews” featuring USPTA Master Professional David T. Porter. In this video, Porter explains the kind of impact, both positive and negative, that the home and social environment can have on a player in training.

Tip:
Both home and social environments influence a child’s development and performance. Home environments vary with each family. While some families may put a lot of pressure on a player and expect him to always excel in tennis, other families may not pressure a player at all and just expect him or her to enjoy the experience. David T. Porter, Ed. D., says that “tennis is an opportunity to meet and socialize with people.” Tennis also can enhance confidence and independence in young people.
