Due to the fact that the return of serve requires a quick reaction time and shortened backswing, a player’s racquet path, particularly on the backhand side, as demonstrated in this video tip, should not be low to high as in regular groundstrokes. Rather, the backhand return of serve should be a more level swing that follows a more direct plane through the ball.
